Episode 5: This Is Not Glamping

So... who is joining the Chefs from LCK??? Its kind of annoying it took the whole first segment of the episode to get to the returning chef... but I suppose not everyone watches LCK, and saw ALL of that already (except Kwame being ousted :( UGH!).

So the returning chef is... a tie. WHAT!!! LeeAnne AND Claudette are both back in!

No Quickfire this week! Instead the chefs get to go camping in Estes Park! They need to cook a five star meal using Colorado ingredients!

I don't remember it being so snowy last summer... there is a LOT of snow! WOW! Reminded me of a hut trip, not a camping trip- the show should have given them snowshoes. The interviews with Tanya and Fatima are awesomely funny - I love how freaked out everyone is! Go Carrie setting up her tent- Colorado represent!

I am so nervous for Carrie- her plan is SUPER risky! Camping cake in little mugs? I think if she had the dutch oven it would be fine, but the mugs are not going to be easy. Tu is being ballsy cooking rabbit 3 ways, just cooking it well one way is going to be tough in these conditions! We all know you get judged extra when you cook extra- not a smart move, he should just smoke it like he had planned!

Round 1 dishes all turned out well! Fatima and Bruce both did a great job and Carrie's cake was a huge hit! Joesph did alright but overcooked his swab.

Round 2 is also fabulous! Joe and Claudette killed it- LeeAnne's plate was scraped clean! Adrienne had good flavor but she overcooked her quail a little.

Round 3 is a bit of a miss overall. Tanya's dish is confusing and over complicated, Chris' chili was dry- yep DRY Chili, wtf? Tu should have focused on just cooking the rabbit one way, not shocked there and Brother's dish was overcooked and messy. Cooking outside with fire in the cold is NOT easy!

I like that judges table is outside- kinda of fun!!! This was a good challenge- almost everyone stepped up big time!

Bruce, LeeAnne and Carrie are on the top! They all did awesome but Bruce takes the win! FINALLY!

On the bottom are Tanya, Chris and Tu. They each made some pretty big mistakes, but it's Tu packing his knives this week. He is headed into LCK with who? Kwame?

We all had a chef in the top and a chef in the bottom this week! Kinda crazy!

Episode 5: 1 tequila 2 tequila 3 tequila FLOOR!

How did Padma not get completely lit during that QF! I would have been sick. That was a LOT of shots! I liked the challenge though, very Texan! I also like Tequila and enjoy Fajitas made with it, mmmmm.

Chris C and Lindsey rose to the top, but it was Tylor that took it. I am glad he had some redemption after last week.

The elimination challenge was interesting. I am not a game fan, mainly because I like those animals alive, but I thought it was again a fitting Texas challenge. The teams were interesting as well, none so much as Beverly and Heather. WOW, Heather is SUCH a bitch. Again, I don’t like Beverly, but how unbelievably uncalled for! The fact that she brought up last weeks challenge at judges table shows she was grasping. AND why throw your partner under the bus in a double elimination? She’s not very smart. I am interested to see how that relationship plays out. I am loving Grayson more and more each week, not just as a chef, but as a person. I can tell her and Heather will be butting heads again!

I honestly thought Chris J and Grayson were goners this week. I could hardly even watch as they are both on my team, it was painful. What was Chris J thinking?!?!? I am ready to lose him! I was hoping the chefs would kick off Heather and Beverly instead, but they did something I did not think in a million years they would do and eliminated Nyesha and Dakota. This is going the change the entire dynamic since not only were they both good chefs, Nyesha was one of my top picks to win it all and a voice of reason in many situations. Should be interesting.

Tylor and Ed’s win was deserved, and they work really well together. I think Tylor led the win though. I am still not confident in Ed as a Top Chef, and he bugs me when he talks, just saying. Sarah and Paul could have done better. I thought they would have won this, but Sarah just broke down. Hope she can pull herself together! All and all, it was a shocking week and I look forward to the future! I wonder if Nyesha will take the LCK to the end?

Sad to see Casey go, she was one of my favs, however she has not been doing well, so I guess it's not THAT shocking.

Good work Dale, again. You and Marcel look like assholes in next week's episode, but it only makes me want to watch more!
