I love clam chowder, plus it's Boston! Chowder is so great because there are so many ways to to it! It was pretty messed up that Melissa stole all Mei's clams- dirty.
On Top we have Adam, Greg, Melissa with Greg taking the win and immunity!
On Bottom are Doug (salty), Katsuji (no flavor), Mei (under-seasoned), Katie (gummy and overpowered with the sourdough) with Katie up for elimination!
Instead of battling a remaining chef, she gets to battle an already eliminated chef. Whichever chef gets nominated to compete can get back into the competition if they win! The eliminated chefs choose George to go up against Katie!
He was the 1st chef eliminated BUT drew the short straw on that 1st challenge! He is a talented guy, working with Mike Isabella... but he's been out of the competition mode for quite some time now! This could go either way- I LOVE this!
Challenge: Rabbit in 45 mins!
Katie made Braised Rabbit Leg With Moroccan Tomato Sauce
George made Roasted Rabbit Loin, Barley Risotto, Glazed Carrots, and Mustard Rabbit Jus
And the winner is- George! This really mixes things up!!!
Elimination Challenge- Foodie Tasting in Boston with the judges shopping for their ingredients! Richard goes into "I've done this before" mode and the remaining judges just mosey along.
I WISH I could go to something like this- SO jealous! I really want them to do Top Chef DENVER! Funny to see the crowd hush and part as the judges walked in! And Gail calling Doug, Dougy, cracks me up!
Favorites- George really seasoned and cooked well off the bench, Greg did a good job with his ingredients and flavor, Doug was smart with his flavors.
Least favorites- Mei lack a flavor and undercooked, Adam's shrimp was cooked in a strange way that they didn't like, Melissa did well but played it too safe. Katsuji was not discussed in the kitchen.
The Favorites were in the top tonight!!! They all did great and I totally agree with the judges there. The winner this week, AGAIN is Dougy with his Chorizo-Marinated Mussels With Sweet Pepper and Cauliflower Relish! Yay Team Pickely!
On the bottom are Mei, Adam and Melissa. (Simply based on the amount of screen time this person got- I predict that Adam is out...) drum-roll...
Rack of Lamb With Charred Eggplant Puree, Scallion-Ginger Relish and Lamb Jus- Mei really undercooked her lamb and didn't even cook it properly.
Flash Marinated Shrimp, Mushroom Conserva, Peppadew Peppers, Herbs, and Aioli- Adam's shrimp was undercooked and his seasoning was really off.
Sauteed Shrimp, Harissa Yogurt, Roasted Fig, Fennel, Dill, Mint, and Artichoke Salad- Melissa cooked the shrimp to order and had nice knife work, but she needs more flavor and depth.
Everyone did "good", but one of these guys just didn't do good enough to stay, and that person is Adam, despite the risks he took. I respect the judges choice, but I think Melissa should have gone home here. But who knows- he could crush Last Chance Kitchen!
BTW- next week looks AWESOME! I can't wait! LCK up next!
