Episode 2- Southern Hospitality

Straight into an Elimination Challenge from the sudden death Quickfire- damn! I am always curious how many days are actually in a season...

Shrimpy shrimp shrimp SHRIMP!!!! Mmmmmm!!! They showed 2 places I actually went to when I was there! Hot Little Biscuit and Edmunds Oast- both great!!! I actually went to Hot Little Biscuit because Kristen Kish posted a pic of her there on Instagram and said how awesome it was!

Elimination Challenge: break into  2 teams, Rookies vs. Vets (and Emily is annoying...) each team gets to dine at the home of a super local chef then create a family style southern meal!

The Rookies get to eat with Chef Carrie Morey and the Vets are with Chef BJ Dennis! I think they all really took the food and culture to heart- Casey was so emotional. The Vets are really clicking together well and the Rookies are still trying to figure this whole show out. The shopping was entertaining :)

Really not a fan of Emily as a person. If she REALLY wants Biscuits, 1) they should have discussed that before they shopped, 2) she should not force someone with immunity to do it just b/c she wants them to AFTER they all planned the meal and 3) she should just do it if it's so important. I will say that yes, they should have planned to do a biscuit, but doing one when they didn't get ingredients for it would be a disaster.

Rookies did not seem to work great together in the kitchen, but still managed to get it done. The judges noticed immediately this missing biscuits! I cannot believe Jamie burnt the broccoli- seriously dude!?! Overall their meal was well received- no one hit their dish out of the park, Emily was the only one without criticism.

Vets worked well together in the kitchen! Tom liked the Okra!!! There was not much that went wrong for them, they really cooked a great cohesive meal! No surprise that the Vets made the better meal, and on top were Casey, John and Sheldon! (All from team Pickley btw!) The winner of this round is Casey!

The Rookies, BJ, Annie and Jamie made the worst of the dishes. Each of these chefs had issues with execution... It's hard to cook in a kitchen like that. And the chef going home is Annie! I think Bug can breathe easier losing her now!

  1. You want to talk about veterans? How about our savvy ass fantasy pool identifying the weakest links? Gerald and Annie were the last two chefs left in the draft and both are out after just 1 QF and elimination. Nice job pool people.

Um, damn Pickely. Share the wealth a little. Winner's table clean sweep... Wow.

I agree completely with your take on Emily and the biscuit situation. I guarantee you that if I was in Jim's shoes I would have told her to make the damn biscuits herself. She has a huge chip on her shoulder and is consciously choosing to isolate herself from her fellow contestants at the house. This is not going to end without some drama.

It's only been 2 episodes but Jamie and BJ have been major rookie disappointments. 2/2 on burning veg? Three strikes and you're out in my opinion.
