Episode 12- Mississippi Mud Bugs

We begin with a Crawfish Etouffee Quick Fire with John Besh!
It must be really hard for Stephanie to do a QF with an ingredient she's allergic to! It is hard enough to cook in a short time period, but add to that knowing that any slip could cause you to go into anaphylactic shock, sucks for her.
I also think it is sad they cook them alive, poor crawfish!

On the bottom of the QF we had Carrie, Nick, Stephanie and Carlos. On the top- Brian, Nina, and Shirley taking the win with her Singapore Chili Crab Étouffée with Crawfish Stock, Cucumber, and Egg
I guess being the only one to use rice worked in her favor. I do question that Carlos doesn't know what the word smother is- I think he was trying to save his ass a bit, but whatever.

It was cool that the chefs got to go have dinner with John Besh, but did anyone else feel like it was awkward? Nina kept saying how comfortable she was, but the conversation seemed really forced- also Stephanie is really annoying.

Elimination Challenge: Create a Dish Highlighting Two Different Types of Seafood at the seafood showcase! The judges are getting ruthless!

I can't believe Carlos would ask Nick for his knife, then not clean it! He went on and on about helping each-other out, then when he doesn't clean the knife says this is a competition- asshole! He is at the bottom of my list now.

On top this week we had Stephanie, Nina and Brian- Huge week for la'Chefre!
Stephanie took the win with her Fried Louisiana Oysters With Tuna and Pickled Beech Mushrooms

The bottom dishes this week were Nick, Carrie and Carlos
We sadly say goodbye to Carrie and her Flounder Croquettes With Oyster Emulsion and Pickled Cucumbers

Even Padma was sad to see her leave. She had the most points out of any eliminated chef and I really think had more potential than she showed- especially the last few weeks. There's always LCK, so we shall see!

Ep 13: Oui Si A Challenge- Culinary legend Jacques Pepin tests the chefs technique in a Quickfire based on one of his favorite dishes. For their Elimination Challenge, the French and Spanish are battling it out in the kitchen as the cheftestants make meals to represent both cultures.

  1. I'm also sad to see Carrie go home. She was doing so well up until the last 2 episodes, and then she completely crashed & burned. Apparently the trend continued through LCK.

Louis better keep his knives sharp & his wits about him - he's got a lot of strong competition headed his way soon!
